Industrial Motors Powered by Wolfspeed Silicon Carbide Meet IE4 Efficiency Standards

Electric motors, including industrial low voltage, servo, and heat pumps and air conditioning, together account for more than 45% of all global electricity consumed annually. Wolfspeed Silicon Carbide (SiC) MOSFETs and Schottky Diodes enhance overall motor efficiency by up to 2.1% and meet IE3 and IE4 efficiency standards. Implementing a full Silicon Carbide solution in industrial embedded motors allows designers to integrate motors and drives into one unit, reducing costs by up to 20-40%, improving system reliability and efficiency, and reduces the total cost of ownership.

Compact Drives With Maximum Performance & Power


Wolfspeed Silicon Carbide technology is stable at higher temperatures than traditional silicon IGBTs and allows engineers to integrate drive electronics into the motor housing. These “embedded drives” decrease the overall size of drives by up to 50% and offer best-in-class power density, performance, and efficiency without sacrificing quality.

Industrial Low Voltage Motor Drives

Using a full Wolfspeed Silicon Carbide solution in industrial low voltage motor drives enables designers to achieve IE4 efficiency standards and a 2.1% increase in overall system efficiency, all while reducing the overall motor drive size by up to 50%.

Servo Drives

Servo drives are tasked with executing high power actions with absolute precision. Using a full Wolfspeed Silicon Carbide solution in place of traditional silicon can increase servo drive efficiency while reducing overall drive size.

Heat Pumps and Air Conditioning

Wolfspeed Silicon Carbide enables up to 11 kW increase in overall system efficiency and while achieving the most stringent global efficiency standards including SEER, SCOP, ESEER and GB21455.
